It's deja vu all over again for Microsoft's AI-powered Recall tool.

After a delay in June and then a second one in August , Microsoft is once more pushing back testing of the feature intended for its Copilot+ PCs.

The Verge reported that Recall now won't enter previews for Windows Insiders until December.

"We are committed to delivering a secure and trusted experience with Recall," Brandon LeBlanc, senior product manager of Windows, told the publication.

"To ensure we deliver on these important updates, we’re taking additional time to refine the experience before previewing it with Windows Insiders."

The issue stems from the case’s battery cells, supplied by a third-party vendor, which could overheat and cause a fire hazard.

“The issue is isolated to battery cells used in the Charge Case Accessory,” Humane wrote.

OpenAI has announced a set of new search features for its popular chatbot ChatGPT, the likes of which seem intentionally designed to make the app more competitive with Google and other search engines.

Apple’s journey to making its own wireless chips has been a long one, but the end might be in sight.

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo posted on X that Apple’s switch to its own in-house Wi-Fi / Bluetooth chips will start with the iPhone 17 in the second half of next year.

Claude, the AI chatbot made by Anthropic, now has a desktop app.

You can download the Mac and Windows versions of the app from Anthropic’s website for free.

Last week, Anthropic released its “computer use” feature in public beta, which allows the Claude 3.5 Sonnet model to control a computer by looking at a screen, moving the cursor, clicking buttons, and entering text.

This capability isn’t available within the app, however.

GM moved its electric van company BrightDrop into Chevy in August to save some money, and today, the newly branded version of the vehicle is reaching one of BrightDrop’s earliest customers: Walmart.

Ford is idling the factory where it makes its F-150 Lightning electric pickup trucks until next year, the company said today.

While Tesla just had a better-than-expected earnings quarter, Ford is still struggling to squeeze profit out of its Model e division, which covers EVs, software, and more.

When it first came out, the F-150 Lightning was held up as enormously important for Ford’s long-term growth and vision.

A California agency tasked with enforcing the state's civil rights laws has reportedly filed a lawsuit against Tesla, alleging racial discrimination and harassment occurred at the electric carmaker.

Dutch startup Skytree has opened a new HQ in Toronto, Canada and a new office in Nashville, Tennessee, as it looks to cash-in on attractive government incentives for direct carbon capture (DAC) technologies.

German “teledriving” startup Vay has secured €34mn from the European Investment Bank (EIB).

In January, Vay launched a commercial remote-controlled car service in Las Vegas.

Vay says it has been working closely with authorities to launch a commercial service in the German city.

However, most will be nearby at one of Vay’s teledriving centres.

“Remote driving can increase profitability in a sector known for fine margins,” explained Justin Spratt, chief business officer at Vay.

Apple this week launched the new USB-C Magic Mouse, Magic Trackpad, and Magic Keyboard along with the M4 Macs.

While the new Macs won’t arrive until November 8, customers can already buy the new Magic accessories in stores.

Interestingly, reports on the MacRumors forums suggest that the new Magic USB-C accessories don’t work properly on macOS 15.2 beta 1 either.

Based on the reports, the function keys and Touch ID on the new Magic Keyboard are inoperable on macOS versions other than 15.1.

Apple released iOS 18.1 with the first Apple Intelligence features on Monday.

In a new interview with CNBC today, Apple CEO Tim Cook touted that Apple is seeing strong adoption numbers of iOS 18.1 so far.

iOS 18.1 includes the first suite of Apple Intelligence features, such as Writing Tools, notification summaries, and Clean Up in the Photos app.

The company typically adds details on software update adoption to its developer website several months after the update is released.

Apple has released its earnings report for fiscal Q4 2024.

The company reports $94.93 billion in revenue during the three-month period, up 6% year-over-year.

This sets a new September quarter revenue record.

For comparison’s sake, Apple reported $89.5 billion in revenue in the same quarter last year.

Apple reported $0.97 earnings per share for Q4 2024, but when excluding that one-time charge, earnings per share was $1.64.

On Monday, the tech giant said sales of iPhones, iPads and subscription services like Apple Music had helped the company increase its quarterly revenue by 6 percent to $94.93 billion during the three months that ended in September.

Elon Musk, the world’s richest man, is building what he says will be the world’s largest supercomputer.

The supercomputer’s neighbors in southwest Memphis have a problem with that.
