The text of a budget reconciliation bill released by Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) last week calls for the FAA's Office of Commercial Space Transportation, known as AST, to begin charging licensing fees to space companies next year.

The fees would phase in over eight years, after which the FAA would adjust them to keep pace with inflation.

The money would go into a trust fund to help pay for the operating costs of the FAA's commercial space office.

The FAA's commercial space office received an almost identical funding level in 2024 and 2025.

The FAA licensed 11 commercial launch and reentry operations in 2015, when AST's budget was $16.6 million.

Apple has just launched a worldwide service program for the 2023 Mac mini with M2 chips, because "a very small percentage" of them are having power issues and may no longer turn on.

While Mac minis powered by M2 chips were first released in 2023, the affected units were made between June 16, 2024 to November 23, 2024.

In true Pacific Northwestern summer fashion, I have been riding around with multiple cubic feet of wood and soil in the panniers of the test Tern GSD S10.

But mostly, this is a luxury keyboard for a very specific type of keyboard nerd.

Ryan Norbauer is well known in the keyboard community for his aftermarket housings, but the Seneca is his first ready-to-type board.

Topre switches Topre switches — most famously found in the Happy Hacking Keyboard — have a rubber dome under each key, instead of a physical switch.

And while metal cases are common in enthusiast mechanical keyboards, Topre keyboards only come in plastic.

But Topre boards have a dedicated fan base because the domes give Topre switches a snappy tactility you can’t otherwise replicate.

They have the high tactile bump and smooth downstroke of Topre switches, with a deeper sound.

A London couple was able to locate and reclaim their Jaguar E-Pace this week using Apple’s AirTag, after local police chose not to take immediate action, even with real-time location data in hand.
