On X, the company has been teasing the upcoming phone with illustrations and animations.

While rising RAM costs are to blame, according to Apple, Wall Street isn’t too impressed with the move.

Apple’s stock is trading down 5% today, a 15.49-point drop, after increasing prices on existing Macs, iPads, and other products.

Apple first signaled that it planned to raise prices on its products last week when Apple CEO Tim Cook delivered the news to the Wall Street Journal in an interview.

First, incoming Apple CEO John Ternus won’t inherit the decision to increase prices due to the ongoing global memory constraint.

Second, new Apple products that replace existing products may have higher memory needs to deliver Siri AI.

Apple just rolled out a slew of price increases across Mac, iPad, Apple TV, HomePod and more product lines.

Apple CEO Tim Cook warned this was coming a week ago, as component pricing for memory and storage hits unprecedented levels.

In a statement to Bloomberg today, the company acknowledged “this is not welcome news” and is “working tirelessly to find solutions”.

Until today, Apple has mitigated component shortages with almost no changes to like-for-like product pricing.

It is interesting that Apple’s most popular product, the iPhone, has not seen a price increase today.

MacBook Neo now starts at $699 (up from $599), while MacBook Air now starts at $1299 (up from $1099).

Other impacted products include MacBook Pro, iPad, iPad Air, and many more.

Cook explained that price increases had simply become “unavoidable” amid skyrocketing component costs affecting things like memory and storage.
